Let the "date-ing" begin!
Consolidate or liquidate - the two ugly choices for domestic air carriers - is now an urgent reality.
Aloha and ATA filed Ch 11 - but suspended operations. Sounds like their creditors want to stop the bleeding now. Not likely they'll emerge from BK.
Up next? Mesa tanked more than 18% today, and has lost 80% of its market cap in the last year.
NWA is also hurting big time.
And UA? Its market cap has lost more than 42% in just the last 2 months.
Unless oil prices take a nosedive soon (not betting on that), the legacies won't have to worry about consolidation....but, alot of travelers may suddenly find they bought tix on an airline no longer in operation.
