On a recent to München, I bought a Bavarian hat complete with a gamsbart (extra charge of course . . .the one English word the lady running the shop seemed to know was 'extra' which she found all sorts of occasion to use as we negotiated ).

Anyway, I really like it and have started to wear it regularly (and seem to get mostly positive comments - although it is quite possible that people assume that I'm a bit 'special' and try to humor me).

In any case, with normal wear and tear the gamsbart has gotten a bit poofy (ie. it is no longer a nice narrow clump the way it was originally). Is there a way for me to groom it back into shape so that I don't appear to be a Bavarian Hunter who by the end of the day became the hunted?

Any and all Gamsbärte care tips would be most appreciated.
