UA did treat their customers well over this. Friend was travelling UA F on cash plus miles deal and they re routed her BA F. Seems she was booked into a normal fare bucket and as a Gold BA she is looking forward to miles and Tier points on this booking as well. Sadly had this been with BA she would probably have had her travel delayed rather than an immediate reroute especially where an award ticket was involved.

Not sure if this is a benefit as now she is like to end up without her baggage!
Then again, I guess that is what travel insurance is for.
