I imagine flying THROUGH Boston is OK, but in my opinion, Logan Airport is just too small for the area it serves. It is just a sea of people on holiday weekends.

As far as delays, it is no different from any other airport I've been to.

Getting to/from the airport is a joke. I ride the train in, because it can take an hour to drive the few miles from the Southeast Distressway (I-93). It has parking rates that only a mobster could love, and you'd better wear your hiking boots to get to the terminal.

However, if you have the opportunity to be in Boston on the July 4th weekend, walk (don't be foolish enough to try to drive) down to the Charles River to watch the fireworks at the Esplanade. Be sure to sit near someone with a radio so you can hear the Boston Pops play. It is a 5-mile riverside party.

I grew up in Cambridge. We would go down to the river around 8AM to stake out a spot and spend the whole day playing frisbee and wiffle ball. By 3:00, it would start to get pretty crowded. By 5:00, you'd better be ready to defend your spot. At dusk, the music starts and at nightfall, the fireworks begin.

I have 3 little ones (4 years, 22 mos, and 8 mos). In a few years, we're going to get a family tradition started.
