Here is what you need to do.

1) Reserve your time share as normal and receive your confirmation number.
2) Call regular Marriott reservations and attach your rewards number to that reservation. They will do it with no problem. Your stay now shows up in your reservations at the regular Marriott website.

You are entitled to points for room charges etc. As others have said, YMMV about the nights. I can say your chances are much less if your rewards number is not attached and its processed as a missing stay.

FYI: This works for Interval Exchanges as well-if exchanging to another MVC location. Interval will provide you with a Marriott confirmation number on your exchange cert. It usually takes a day or two to be assigned to you so don't call right away. SOMETIMES Interval will ultimately give you a different week, so if the exchange dissapears from the regular Marriott website reservation list, simply call Interval and get the new Marriott confirmation number. This will happen in cases where they have traded you up to a better view etc than you are entitled and now the proper view is available etc.
