You can receive nights and points if you are paying for an MVCI room just like you would any other Marriott hotel (i.e. use Marriott Reservations or the online tool and reserve an MVCI room(s).) If on the otherhand, you have purchased an MVCI week and are using that week, then per the T&Cs you will not receive any night credit.

I think Socrates' answer is stating that sometimes mistakes can happen and you still get night credit, but that isn't the norm or per the rules.
