I'd rather go the opposite direction and stop allowing agents of various agencies (FBI, CIA, DEA, etc.)to carry a firearm onboard the aircraft.

Or, let anyone qualified carry one onboard. I trust myself more than I trust these yahoo air marshals and DEA agents (<bang!> <bang!> "FREEZE"!)
