Not really. The Thunderbird train gets you to Toyama at 10.25am. From there, it's another hour to Tateyama.

If you were to rush from one transport to the next without stopping to see the scenery, you might just about make it over the mountain before everything shuts down. But where's the fun in that? And bear in mind that the end of April is Golden Week -- so there are long lines for the buses, cable cars and other vehicles. There's a chance that you might not make it over.

Not unless you get your kicks from riding lots and lots of trains and buses.

Have you ever been tempted to visit every single London Underground station within one day? Or to see how many flight segments you can fit into a 24 hour period? If so, then this is a similar kind of challenge.

If not, then forget about it.
