TO THE OP: If you dont mind flying out of IAD see if IAD-JFK-LAX is availible in C. Then you can take PS for 40K miles which is a great value vs domestic F for 50K.
They should be able to find something if you are flexible on connecting. 3 weeks I had to be in SFO for 2 days and I wanted confirmible upgrade space. All if the IAD-SFO flights we NC0 NF0 but a nice agent looked hard for me and found IAD-SMF-SFO with an upgrade to F on IAD-SMF and only a 20 min hop on skywest to SFO.
