Good run today. 7.3 miles total, including 4 miles at 8:50 pace. Not quite "tempo" or threshold pace, but I was running at a high school track and thought I was running way too fast and kept slowing it down until I realized that it was impossibly "fast" and that it must be a 1/5 mile track (later confirmed it on google maps).

So, I would have run it closer to 8:30 had I been better focused, and I certainly had it in me comfortably. All in all it felt great. Heart Rate stayed pretty constant at about 171 (which is how I know it wasn't lactate threshold pace) and I still had a lot of energy at the end to run the last lap at an all-out pace (sadly, didn't get the start time of the lap to know the exact pace), and to run home (which is pretty much a steady climb up 500 or 600 feet over 1.5 miles).
All of this, of course, means that my 5K pace of 8 weeks ago is now a pace I think I could hold for a half-marathon.
It also means that now that I've figured out how to get to this track, that my speedwork days on the treadmill are over, and hopefully that will get me out of my head on those days.
