For years I have flown EVA across the pacific because their Y+ product (EVA Delux) was a far superior alternative to economy (and to other exec economies). They did this by using the nose of the 747 thus having a very odd seating patern that gave plenty of "space".

If DL could do such with a different seat design I would be truely impressed.^

I REALLY like the concept that the seats prevent the pax next to you from stealing your space. Of course, a thin divider might have the same effect.
