While you say you weren't "whining," you were trying to gauge how much you could expect to get from the hotel. They had an issue. While the front desk no doubt appreciated your regular updates that you--and ONLY you --had no water, then no hot water, blah blah, they probably wanted to get it back on if for no other reason than to get you off the phone. I agree with the others: move on.
