I've booked this hotel for a couple of nights but being a lapsed HH Gold I don't have hign expectations.
We had a good time at the MEL Hilton the night before our flight to SYD.
- Great fitout.
- Newly renovated room (top floor, Rm 942?).
- Nice bed and linens.
- Great views, especially with the glass desk and confortable chair.
- Very good parking ($10 o/nite on the short-term parking, via the Hilton desk)
- Efficient, friendly checkin
- Fresh and interesting restaurant/bar opposite checkin lobby.
- Fitout was reminiscent of the Westin Sydney rooms, though with much nicer/larger windows.
- Upgrades and late check out no problem on our visit.

The only thing missing was an exec lounge.

A big thanks to Straitman aka Bill on AFF for arranging the Hilton Premium Club corporate membership which allows us to book this as a $99 stay (with upgrade where available). ^

I had parked across from the Hilton on the Park on our first drive into Melbourne on the weekend (Good Friday, to go to St Patrick's Cathedral) and wasn't impressed by the HOP aside from its location close to the MCG.
Its location doesn't seem to be the best for a business traveller.

The planned Exhibition Centre Hilton, noted in the hotel's glossy brochures, looks good if it's open in 2009.

I'd stay again at the Hilton MEL as it is the best airport Hilton I've tried.

For the city, my 'pot luck' stay at the Pacific International Suites on Lt. Bourke St was great, too.
