Will certainly consider that as a future option, but as mentioned timing is a factor. Need to stay within 2-3 hrs max of whichever turns out to be our rendezvous point.

Are you referring to the town/environs, or the hike up the mountain itself? Yeah, I can see from the various materials that the town has become quite touristy, but I don't mind that so much if we can get the satisfaction we'd like from our "signature hike" once we decide upon it.

Please know, though, that I'm not discounting your input at all...I posted here specifically to get informed opinions. All this info factors into my decision.
