I guess the train is sounding better, and $102 to take the Acela (pretty cool) is not bad. But then, I've also been interested to try JetBlue with their in flight TV and free snacks some time. I have no experience of whether Jetblue is for business travelers, VBITs, or what.
The Amtrak trip is interminally long. I LOVE trains but i avoid the NY-BOS amtrak ride. I take the NY-DC ride every chance I get. Those trains just operate at a much higher speed.
If you've never flown JetBlue, take this opportunity! The terminals are a bit like Greyhound, but the flights are wonderful. Leather seats, free TV, snacks a bit more than the 10 peanut bag, and very pleasant flight attendants. Also, the pilot or co-pilot usually introduce themselves from the front of the cabin with expected flight information, a nice touch.
