I used to live in NJ and I sure miss Amtrak's East coast run! They keep trying to make a go of Union Station here in KC as a museum and I wish they'd just bring back passenger trains. But I digress...

I vote for Amtrak. I took the NJ-Boston run once and while it seemed interminably long after awhile, I was spread out comfortably with my books and could wander up and down the aisle or go to the dining car. It was also a huge advantage on the Boston end to be around the corner from the hotel where my conference was being held. I was REALLY happy with my decision when a snowstorm blew up, flights were being cancelled all over the place, and I hopped on the train and went home.
