thoughts on how to do BOS-NYC? -- DL/B6/Amtrak/Greyhound(gasp!)

(updated to tell you what option I chose in the end and what happened, post #44)

for the first time in a while I will not have the option to drive myself from Boston to the New York area, and this is personal travel on my own dime to get home to NJ on an upcoming weekend in April. I prefer to get eventually to the Newark area, and have found four options. Can you all vote for which I should take? I am a loyal UA flier, but trying to take UA on this route is pushing it, even for me!

options:
1) Delta or Jetblue -- frequent departures BOS-JFK around $100 one-way, but BOS-LGA is much more expensive (>$175), even on the Sunday I'm interested in. USAir shuttle is also expensive, which I would've considered out of *A loyalty and miles earning, but not worth the extra $ in this case. Which one, DL or B6, will be a more entertaining and satisfying experience to this UA loyalist? After landing, would prob take AirTrain, LIRR, NJTransit home.

2) Amtrak. BOS to NWK direct no hassles, sitting back relaxed, not much longer than flying, but still costs $80-105! Is it worth it for the convenience? At that point, I almost want to be up in an airplane just cause I like flying.

3) finally, dreaded Greyhound to NYC -- but very cheap, around $30 and they have some promotion online to halve the cost if you fill out a survey afterwards. ~5hours sitting in a bumpy, stopping and starting and turning bus.

are there other options I've overlooked? Chinatown buses too I guess?

what would you choose? (remember, not being paid for by someone's expense acct...)
