Perfectly normal flight. I didn't care for either of the main courses, but it's nothing worse than KL subject me to every time I fly them. Starters, wines, desserts all excellent.
We were upgraded to J on ORD-MAD last week, and everything was just fine except the main course was inedible.
Of course we have the same problem with food often in Spain, because apparently salt is heavily subsidized there so they use it in place of other ingredients. The next-most-used ingredient in Spain is pork fat.
The J seat is quite comfortable, but (unlike BA's window seats) there is no privacy, you are sleeping right next to another passenger.
We came back in the class we paid for (coach) and there was nothing particularly good or bad with that flight. Everything perfectly normal.
EDITED TO ADD: We too found the appetizer excellent (we didn't try the soup), and the dessert choices were great too. There was a wide variety of wines including an excellent dessert moscato.
Also, to respond to a post below: we don't really like meat and potatoes. In spite of my snide remarks above we actually love eating in Spain, as long as it is tapas (salt is more bearable in small portions) or seafood (which is usually free of pork lard). What we both chose in IB J was something described as sea bass, but it smelled and tasted like poorly-desalted bacalao. I admit to not liking bacalao.
