On the way back, we flew back in a snow storm, land, and had to wait half an hour on the apron waiting for the crews to clear the gates (as if they weren't expecting us?) and then waited about 45-50 minutes at the carousel because they couldn't get the luggage compartments open because they were frozen shut. YWG is pretty quick, as is YSB and YXU.
Generally speaking the smaller the airport the faster you will get your bags as the less strained the baggage crews are. Airports like YYC who have limited staff due to labour shortages for their baggage crews make international and long hual routes their priority for departure and therefore you may experience delays in recieving your bags.
