So, unless I'm BA Gold (or OneWorld emerald), even if I am travelling full fare Longhaul Business Class (£4,000 ticket), I can't use a business class check-in desk. Worse still, even if I take 6 full fare Longhaul Business Class returns, I still can't make BA Gold (1440 Tier Points) to allow me to use a business check-in desk. I have to make Gold so I can use First check-in.
I don't know about anyone else, but I've had frequent problems with BA SSCI at outstations and never use them at Heathrow.
Presumeably they could even keep the same number of desks and just have a few dedicated for business class to prioirtise between the person who is flying on el-cheapo £59 domestic ticket and the person who is Silver and flying full fare longhaul J.
My requirements for airport experience are not that demanding and I actually prefer NNCW to FIRST:
1) To be able to self-select seat.
2) To check-in online (no printer at home).
3) To use a manned check-in desk to talk to a person and get a boarding pass (10 minutes is fine).
4) Use of a Lounge.
I never take hold luggage with BA.
So to get the experience I want I would have to:
1) Buy a First Ticket (to use a check-in desk at Heathrow).
2) Do a Voluntary Downgrade to travel in CW at the check-in desk.
or fly enough to become OneWorld Emerald.
Really, you couldn't make this up! How moronic.
