Hehe yes, I second the caution re: SU paper tickets. If I may add my two cents, read the confirmation e-mail
very carefully. Why, you may ask? The last time I booked through SU, I received a confirmation e-mail stating the usual e-ticketing information (airports, times, confirmation number, etc.) The darn thing even said I was e-ticketed.
What did I assume? That I was booked on an e-ticket. Logical!
Wrong. Imagine my dreadful experience ex CDG (and on AF) when, at check-in, the agent requested my paper ticket. Lots of unpleasant exchanges with the ticket office ensued. Luckily I speak fluent French and sweet talked the agent into a 50euro ticket re-issue charge. Technically, AF should have re-booked me, charged full Y fare, and left me to hash out a refund with SU.
When I arrived back in the US, I verified the confirmation e-mail from SU. I had not misunderstood, but simply not read all the way to the bottom of the e-mail where they indicated the FedEx tracking number for my paper ticket. Still made no sense, but a lot of confusion could have been avoided had I...read the entire e-mail! And then called SU to clear up whether I was paper ticketed or e-ticketed!
Voila. My very long-winded, two cents
