We stayed at the Bora Bora Nui in an OWB several years ago. While service and food were not perfect (considering >$1000/night), we had no complaints at all wrt the room. Really great and certainly no problems wrt privacy. I wouldn't consider staying in anything other than an OWB in BB.
This was not a seemingly family-friendly resort. We probably only saw one family at all (actually an extended family having some sort of reunion), and the kids were only visible at breakfast and lunch. Not much for kids to do there.
I would go back to the Bora Bora Nui in a second if it were not for wanting to experience one of the newer resorts.
Second on Bora Bora Nui and I don't see how the OWB in the newer hotels can top it. I loved that the windows are everywhere so one can see the water beneath you illuminated at night. Our bungalow was very private. We could not hear anything from our honeymooning neighbor.
I would say that if I ever go back to Tahiti again, I would spend more time in Moorea. I ran out of things to do on my second day (out of five) there.
