can the Premier member use their status to put the passenger in Y, in E+? If yes, if they are on 2 different PNRs, can it be done beforehand, or only at the airport at check in?</font>
Yes, it can be done, and beforehand, with personal experience as testament. (FYI, I'm 1K, SO is not even Premier, and in fact still hasn't even received her plastic MP card yet as we're migrating our household from CO/NW to UA/Star Alliance).
The only problem I've run into is getting us into exit row seats in E+; the seats are there; I'm fine for them, but she's not, even though we're travelling together. We're on split records; asking UA to link the records won't even work.
It's frustrating, but in the big scheme of things, it's minor, not the least since we're in E+ anyway.
