I too was very unimpressed and quite frustrated with the staff and management at this hotel.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for two nights in February, having booked a resort view room. I was prepared, therefore, for a room that did not face the water. After going to the room we saw that there was, in fact, no view at all. We were given a second floor room above the carport, which had a view, through a half size window, only of the roof of the carport. I guess technically this could be considered “resort” view because we were looking at the roof of the resort.

I asked that our room be changed but was told we could not be accommodated because the hotel was fully booked that night. I understood this and it was agreed they would try to change the room for the second night.

On our second day I made another effort to have our room changed but was told that no rooms were available. I asked the Assistant Manager to check to see if there had been any resort view rooms vacated that morning. After checking the computer she told me that no resort view rooms had been vacated and that we would not be able to change rooms for our last night. I found it very hard to believe that not one resort view room had been vacated that morning and, after walking down the hallways, saw at least three resort view rooms were empty and being cleaned. The housekeepers confirmed the guests had checked out that morning.

I returned to the desk and advised the Assistant Manager that there were three rooms to which we could be moved that perhaps her computer system was not showing. She immediately realized that she had been caught in a lie and without even referring again to the computer, brought over the manager. Again without any further reference to the computer system, I was told by the manager that it would be impossible for my wife and I to move to one of these rooms because the resort view rooms that were available that morning had been assigned to other guests. I then suggested that while I understood that this room had a very lousy view and that no guest would be happy in it, it would be most fair if my wife and I were relieved of the roof/gutter “view” for one night. I was told that it was “impossible” to give my wife and I one of the empty rooms because the guests who would be checking into these rooms, although they had not yet arrived at the hotel, had been told their room numbers in advance. I, of course, was then told that if any room opened up we would be moved, but, of course, nothing did.

Otherwise, we enjoyed our brief stay. The staff was friendly and the breakfast buffet was very good.

Has anyone ever heard of room numbers being given to guests before arrival or was that just another untruth?

Steve
