In my law school days (1976-79), in addition to Bartley's, my classmates and I often headed to the Allston Depot, which served up a pretty decent burger. I understand that the Depot has gone through a few incarnations since.

And for unground beef, we also liked Buzzy's Roast Beef (especially, late at night).
