I have "Clear" from American Express and want to change it to HHonors American Express. I called up customer service to request this change in card type and was told that it cannot be done. I was told that I would have to apply for a new card if I want HHonors AMEX. The rep had an Indian accent so I guess it was transfered to outsourced call center. Is there anyone here who has any insights?

I have had this AMEX account (Blue from AMEX then) open since 2001 and don't want to close it. I don't care if I do not get the HHonors sign up bonus.
