In high season this place is WAY over priced! We typically go out every Labor Day weekend...when we have kids we stay at the Westin Kierland, when someone generously takes them off our hands, we typically stay here...rates are usually $165-$195/night! While I am not crazy about this property, for those rates it is worth the drive.
One time we stayed, we checked in and our room was filled with bugs...it was like 2AM and they moved us immediately. The next morning we woke up to find more bugs in that room...they sent up someone who was horrified and they moved us again...no compensation offered during our stay, so my wife wrote a letter and they gave us a free weekend! When using that free weekend, we added one night...this time there was a snake in our room...they were VERY quick to get up there and remove it! Not a fault of the hotel that the snake got in, it's understandable. I was a little surprised that they didn't at least call to check and see how everything was after the event.
As far as the pools go, if you are looking for peace and quiet, head over to the residence club pool...it is typically MUCH more laid back!
