OK, Jaws, I'll forgive you this time...
Here's some San Antonio intel, for those who've never visited the Alamo City, and for those who haven't been there in ages:
Over on the Riverwalk proper, you have the Marriott Rivercenter and Convention Center (one built right into Rivercenter Mall, the other across the street within walking distance of the Henry B. (what the locals call the Convention Center.) You also have the Hilton Palacio del Rio, and the Hyatt Regency San Antonio. There'a also an Adam's Mark hotel in the downtown area.
Within walking distance of the Riverwalk is Alamo Plaza containing the Shrine of Texas Liberty... the Alamo. Totally surrounded by downtown sprawl but then... Whatever you do, don't get too blasted drunk in the Riverwalk and pull an Ozzy Osbourne! (About 20 or so years ago Ozzy was playing a concert in San Antonio, got blitzed and got busted by San Antonio's finest watering the hallowed Alamo. The show went on but he was told to never come back... until about a few months ago when a clean-and-sober Ozzy played the Alamodome again.)
Back to the Riverwalk again... you've got practically every theme restaurant and nightclub known to mankind here... but you didn't come here for the Hard Rock Cafe or Planet Hollywood... there are quite a few institutions here that are quite (in)famous:
Where else can you have dinner in the Republic of Texas, get tried by a Kangaroo Court and were you expecting to see an execution at Dick's? -- the sign says you can't kill a man born to hang! And after a few Texas-size margaritas, you'll wind up howlin' at the moon! (And yes, those are the names of some of the restaurants there!)
More intel to come...
