I recently took a flight on the A380 (the third one that just went into service) and wanted to take a quick look at the cockpit, while parked at the gate. When I asked, I was told that SQ disallowed passenger access to the cockpit at any time, for "security reasons".
Any idea when this policy was implemented? I would have been fine looking from the outside, but it was fairly clear the friendly (but robotic) F/A was not going to accommodate me. Since flight crews are busy and I am sure lots of people want to look at the A380 cockpit, I guess the policy makes sense, but I was still a bit disappointed.
Flew SQ in F March '07. My request to see the 747-400 cockpit (while on the ground in NYC) was the only request of mine that they denied.
With the exception of not seeing the cockpit of my favorite aircraft (1st time I had been on one after 17 years of trying) it was a wonderful experience that I can't wait to do again.
