Oh, sure. There's a frequent train between the airport and Centraal station, with much within walking distance of Centraal (including the infamous Walletjes, which nonetheless have a lot of architectural beauty and charm). If you're good with the streetcars you can also get out to Leidseplein, Museumplein and basically anywhere in Centrum.
