July is fine. Sometimes in SoCal we get what is called "June Gloom", an on-shore flow that creates low clouds that last much of the day, but by July it is usually done.

If you like horse racing, Del Mar season begins July 16. You should plan a visit to "where the surf meets the turf". Lots of fun, even for kids.
