They should have........it would be better than the kangaroo outfit that they have become since the twits in Tempe took over.
Good point ^ although I think that kangaroos keep their hands in their pockets to keep them warm whilst Tempe is doing other things with their hands

Lots of folks both here & on US Aviation like to point to US BK x 2 as the fundamental explanation of what goes wrong at the moment with US. Over at US Aviation, this argument is the rallying call of westies & the most common insult thrown at easties.

It is conveniently forgotten here and on US Aviation that US Airways, an admitted BKx2 airline was acquired by another carrier, AWA, who was itself perched on the slipperly slope of decline and potential BK. Can't say for sure that this is what HP's pending fate really was, but HP would be small potatoes in today's aviation enviorns without the US acquisition.

What has gone wrong since that acquistion has more to do with a management team out of their depth than it does a dysfunctional east airline. But I can forgive the mistakes and miscues if they are genuinely a part of the learning process. But alas, such is not the case.

The challenge facing the new owners was to learn the east side of the business & figure out how best to incorporate the two airlines as clear limitations exist on both sides of this merger. Instead, we have self-assured fools who try to rubberstamp HP onto east opeartions without realizing that east ops are an entirely different game than out west. When the clowns meddle and realize that east and TA ops are different animals, they've already scrapped SHAREs and turn summer TA ops into a mess.

Hey, we've seen SNAFUs before here in the east for years. The difference is that the "new and improved" US lies to pax & employees when they get it wrong. And this is unforgivable.

Ultimately every airline should be about "on-time & with your bags". Tempe is repeating those words a lot lately as they try to get a handle on ops - I sincerely wish Mr. Isom good luck in this regard. But lack of character and the lies emmanating from the top remain inexcusable.

And that is what is fundamentally wrong with today's US Airways. The way I see it, we in the east did not "buy" into anything. It's up to Tempe to figure out how to digest what they bought or to get out of the game. These are dire times in aviation, and I fear that Tempe's cash is not gonna keep them in the game like some here suggest. Todays's game is about cash and vision. The players who get this right will live to play another day. I'm pulling for US as I know it believe what it could be. But I do not buy into the present management in any way, shape or form. If they're gonna play the game, it's time to do so.
