I never had problems taking my monopod over the years until I flew through LAS recently and was told I either had to ship my carbon 'pod or drop it in the trash bin, which I was not about to do. I won't be risking that again. Much less hassle to put it in the bottom compartment of my Tumi duffle which gives it a bit of extra protection from being mishandled by the gorilla corp handlers.
