I think you got hosed. You should have been granted admittance to the arrival lounge, as award tickets are treated like full fare ticket in the class service which you ticketed for. Hence you have a "full fare" ticket and should have all the benefits that goes with a paid first class ticket.

I truely hope this was just a one-time mistake as I'm planning an FC award trip through SFO, partly for the arrival lounge.
