Thankfully I have one already and it isn't too bulky to carry on -- it bundles right up small.

A few people were surprised that I wouldn't be satisfied to leave him in his car seat (IF I get to use it). However, as much as a closed airliner is a contained atmosphere, there's no accounting to how many freaks there are these days, unfortunately, and it seems like ***I*** am always the one sitting next to them!!

Thanks for all the advice.

I can't agree with you more! We'd never leave our baby alone, even for a few minutes. I mentioned my the idea to my wife and she was shocked that someone might do that.

My wife travelled last week with our infant, but I got her upgraded to F. The FAs (on United) were more than happy to keep an eye on the baby for a few minutes, but her seat was not far from the bathroom at the front of the plane.
