While discussion is certainly to be encouraged here, I doubt many would avoid taking a trip somewhere, or inconvenience themselves on said trip, just because a particular airport was substandard. Most would, I think, accept it as a cost of the trip and deal with it. Your post, though, does help to set expectations so that people won't be too disappointed if they do fly to JAX. Always good to have expectation levels set appropriately.
There certainly is that, but when there's a choice, I take airports' condition and amenities into consideration.
Even though ORD is further from downtown Chicago and might be more expensive, I'd probably never use MDW due to severe lack of amenities.
Similarly for a trip to midtown, Manhattan. While EWR might be closest, I'd prefer JFK for the nice FL and the cheaper public transport to midtown despite the lengthier trip. Plus, EWR sux.
