There is obviously a need for capacity for ATL-RDU and DL is using an aircraft they think best fits the market. DL regularly uses widebodies to MCO which isn't that much further from ATL than RDU.
This appears to have been a one-time substitution for the 757 normally flown...I wonder why though? Was it a last-minute change or was there a large group traveling requiring the upguage in aircraft?
