Grand Hyatt Seattle report March 2008

Preface: Thought it would be nice to take my nephew on a flight up to SEA and do the Boeing Plant tour, Seattle Center and Pike's Place.

Status: Diamond.

Rate: Using points for regular room.

Transportation: Rented a car at SEA. Finding the Hotel was a little difficult given the one ways.

Parking: Valet for like $29 per night. There are tons of parking garages around. Would suggest using one of them.

Check-in: I had a nice agent. Asked about a upgrade and was told the Hotel at nearly 100%. She offered a corner water facing room for $30 more per night. I bit.

Perks: Since I had my nephew with me took the cookies with milk and sodas. Yikes. Our amenity was late coming so I called down. Asked for popcorn to be brought up with amenity. The popcorn was complimentary. A nice little touch. Given Lounge access.

Lounge: The Hotel had a decent size Lounge. I think there were two computers in the corner. We went up to floor 27 for evening snacks and breakfast. A ok size spread. Comfortable.

Room: As stated we had a corner room. You enter onto marble then carpet. The room was small but comfortable certainly not a suite as was described. You had a comfortable sofa with chairs, side table and a desk. This room had bank of windows with motorized blinds. You follow a hall to the bedroom. Along the hall to the left was a bank of two closets. The bathroom was to the right. The bedroom was small with a king bed. It had a chair in the corner. No ottoman. You had a bank of windows and a small side window which you can see water. Not much water. Both rooms had flat panel I believe LG tvs. The Hotel brought a roll away in for my nephew. No charge.

Bathroom: The bathroom was a nice size. A single basin sink with marble on the floor. A separate shower and tub. The tub was pretty nice. My nephew actually took a bath without any mention from me.

Internet: They had wired service but I used my T Mobile account size I was not planning on doing much work.

Gym: Should have gone.

Spa: Did not try.

Eating venues: Lots of stuff around.

Local markets: Everything around.

Local area: Everything.

Negatives: None really. The room was a little cozy.

Closing: Would stay at this Hotel in a second. I've been over the years to most hotels in SEA. This property was nice and did not disappoint.
