Exactly. If VX can offer me an UG every flight SAN-SEA/PDX and ~7k miles per trip that I can use for TATL F in exchange for me flying those routes twice per month then AS might have to start worrying about me.
FFs care about Status/UGs and miles. VX doesn't even come close to AS on either one.
