Travelling with children in CW - seating question
Firstly may I say how much I admire the expertise and help available on this forum – and apologise in advance if this has been answered before - but my poor abilities at searching have failed to uncover anything so far.
I haven’t flown CW for several years but will be doing so tomorrow with the family on a trip to the US. Booking is an Amex 241 for myself and spouse, kids are on WT+ tickets MFU’d to CW. This has been done as two separate bookings- apparently not poss to do it as one booking. I have no status with BA so have been unable to select seats in advance. Have just tried to check in online – and have discovered I can’t check the kids in (no adult mentioned in the booking).
The seats we have been allocated are 18E & F & 19D & E (ie only one aisle seat; it’s a 747). Now this may well turn out to be perfectly satisfactory – or it may not. My memory of the previous generation of CW is too hazy to answer my wife’s question – if the children are seated in the middle seats, is it possible that one or both of them may have to climb over a stranger’s legs to access the aisle, if the aisle seat is in a sleeping position ?
Also, given that the only way we will now be able to check in will be at the airport, what are the chances of getting them to change our seats, should this prove advisable? I’m assuming no chance at all, judging by the very dismissive response I got when I politely enquired about this on the phone to reservations this afternoon. Any help or advice very gratefully received!
