I do what UAL Traveler does, just buy a cheap bag locally before returning.

Another trick I use... I oftentimes will save up old clothes that I would be throwing away... and take them on a trip.... could be old shirts, tshirts, underwear, socks.... and use them on the trip.... and throw them away... frees up space for the return trip.....
