I always pack a Le Sportsac duffle. The come in a variety of sizes, are made of a ballistic type of nylon, weigh almost nothing, are washable, and fold up into their own little zipped pouch. They survive being checked as luggage. I use an electical tie wrap to fasten the zipper so that it won't come undone during transit.
