Can I get suggestions of safest & best way to get to/from LHR to downtown for an afternoon's worth of sightseeing when staying at LHR. Travel would be on weekday, likely early afternoon and back evening. Thanks.

a) One day travelcard
b) HEX
c) Tube

Would be great to get directions/cost from LHR area hotels to best choice. Much thanks.
