I was comped 1K by UA at about 70K flown miles and $30K to $35K in ticket prices in 2000. PremEx had a superb website at the time on all the unpublished benefits of the Mileage Plus program, and said that this ticket price point usually triggered 1K. It is a UNPUBLISHED perk from UA, so there is no guarantee - but you might be pleasantly surprised by what UA does for you.
