I'm an international C class traveler and get close to 1K. This year I'll get there and its obvious.

I called to see if I could get bumped up early pointing out my premium fares and that they would make me Exec Plat on AA already and offered to fax my Delta statement with about 200,000 base (Premier Status Miles in Delta speak) and they refused me and said that the only way to 1K is 100,000 miles actually flown.

Seems a little short sighted when I buy tickets that cost up to $9,000.00 per. But at least they apply things evenly.

BTW: Delta Platinum is available right now for about 2,000.00. Ten $200.00 transcons at double base miles.
