I don't quite understand your reasoning here. Your initial post

What more do you want in terms of infrastructure?
to me misses the point that I am trying to make which is that the existence of public transport does not necessarily mean that said public transport is high quality and/or effective. Or, that it works for (in this case, IMHO) more than a fairly small segment of the population who wish to use it to get to the airport.

In fact, one could make an argument that the train infrastructure at Heathrow is actually rather bad; yes, it exists, but its utility could be called into question. Consider that there are only two interchanges between it and the rest of London's rail transport system, at Ealing Broadway and Paddington, and actually the latter is only really effective.

It may not be quite as fast or have such fripperies as BBC News, but the RER B from CDG connects with several metro lines along its length, a major rail station (Gare du Nord), a major RER trunk route (Magenta) and the largest RER interchange (Chatelet).

That's in addition to the opportunities from the TGV station, a situation which is mirrored at FRA and AMS, two airports which are also woven effectively into local, regional and intercity public transport systems that actually work.
