I accepted those costs as the costs required to fly out from LHR... this charge (IMHO) falls into that category. If you don't like the charge you even have several options - don't fly at all, fly from another airport, don't have someone drop you off, park your car there, take public transport... You'd have slightly more options to avoid these charges than I did coming from York.
