In honesty, families chose to fly from LHR and fly out on holiday - and while I agree that we should try and make it easier for them where possible, there are also other things to take into consideration apart from their convience? I could understand the argument if they were forced into flying out from LHR... but they aren't - they chose to do it. If you think either the hassle or the expense is too great then you have a choice - don't do it.
