Shame on you for taking it out an somebody who had nothing to do with the situation.

I'm sorry this happened to you,and I agree that UA should open the counter early enough to accomodate those making the early flight, but in the future, please make sure you have proper documentation with you so you can check-in at the gate. You can print intineraries (even those not made there) on united.com, under "my itineraries" under "planning travel".

Please understand, that I'm not saying in any way this was your fault, but that it could have easily been avoided with better planning.
