Ask them to hand check your camera only. Your camera bag does not need to be hand check and it shouldn't be hand checked. If the check point is not very busy then the camera check should not take anymore then 2 minutes.
All I have in my camera bag is my camera anyway so it shouldn't take any longer. Hopefully the check shouldn't take too long. I'll have them hand check my camera because I don't have a lead bag anyway. Hopefully everything will be fine. If it isn't then I have other negatives to print if I need to.
